Fantasy Surfer Announcement Regarding Teams After Tahiti

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

With the mid-year cutoff happening after the Billabong Pro Tahiti, the ASP will be making some major changes to how an event is run. Accordingly, Fantasy Surfer will be making some subtle adjustments to the game to take full advantage of the changes at hand. The Tour will be dropping from 48 surfers per event to 36. And while Fantasy Surfer will remain the same in concept (eight surfers per team and a $50 million budget), you will see the following changes when you log in after the Tahiti event is completed:

1. Re-adjustment of Surfer Values
With the elimination of 12 surfers from Tour, the selection of your team’s eight surfers just got a whole lot easier. By thinning the herd of many lower-ranked surfers, the cream of the crop is all that remain. In order to keep players from loading up on the upper-echelon of talent, we have increased the maximum value that a surfer can have to $15 million. The minimum value for a non- wildcard surfer will remain at $3 million. That means that every surfer (excluding wildcards and injury replacements) will be valued between $15 million and $3 million.

2. Re-setting of All Teams
With these increased values and the new format, we are also going to be re- setting every user’s team. This means that when you log back in to trade for Trestles, your score for Tahiti will be in place, but there will not be any surfers on your team. This allows for everyone to start fresh within the new system. You will not be able to revert to your old team—you will have to start fresh. Your password and user name will remain the same, but there will be no surfers on your team until your log in and choose eight surfers for Trestles. After this event, your teams will continue to roll over from event to event, as in the past.

Fantasy Surfer and staff will do everything to ensure that every user has more than enough time to log in and trade their teams before the start of the Trestles event. With all the new changes on Tour, we’re very excited about these subtle changes to Fantasy Surfer and know that they will provide further enjoyment of the original Fantasy Surfer game.
